Our History
Our company was founded by Kreswell Edward "Pappy" Neely (Mr. Ed) in 1923 and operated first in Greenville, SC and then on West Henry Street in Spartanburg, SC before moving to its current location at 1751 Union Street on a railroad spur in 1938. Several of Pappy's children opened additional lumberyards in the area, including Kreswell Edward Neely, Jr. (Buzz) who founded Ken Supply, Inc. in Spartanburg, SC and Greer, SC. Pappy's son, Kirk Neely, continued operation of our company for over sixty years; in fact, the company has remained family owned and operated for four generations now.
We take great pride in our family history and cherish our historic ties with area communities and organizations and the city of Spartanburg. Virtually ever neighborhood in the Spartanburg area has some product supplied by our store. Who knows? We may have even supplied materials on your house! Come stop by and see!
